2026-03-24 - Improvements in contests: Advanced Votes feature Follow
The Advanced Vote feature has been redesigned, and new functionalities have been added to better support the diverse mechanics of contests across the platform.
This update brings greater flexibility and adaptability, allowing voting systems to align more closely with the specific needs of each contest format. The new design ensures a smoother and more intuitive experience for both organizers and participants who vote for more than one candidate in the contest’s public gallery.
What is the user experience like in a contest?
Upon accessing the contest gallery, users can select their preferred options, as configured by the administrator, to create a ranked set of votes:
Once all the candidates are selected, a popup will open where the user can review the candidates they are voting for, and change the order and points given, if needed, before continuing and confirming their votes.
In the following video, you can see an example of the voting process:
New functionalities and configuration of advanced votes
To enable advanced voting, where users can vote for several candidates in a single participation, access the promotion editor > Participation stages section > Voting gallery stage.
Access the Voting Gallery tab. There, under the Voting subsection, make sure that the voting system checkbox is selected. Then, under the Voting type option, select "Advanced votes: 1 vote = X points".
You will then be able to create different tiers, assigning the desired number of points to be awarded to candidates. You can create as many point tiers as needed, including multiple tiers with the same number of points (for instance, to vote for the three favorite pictures in the gallery, assigning 1 point to each).
The following customization options are available for each tier:
1. Score: Points awarded to the candidate the user votes for.
2. Name: Label of the entry when selected for voting.
3. Color: The selected entry will be highlighted in the chosen color.
Users will have to select a candidate for each tier to complete their participation and vote for their favorites.
In the following example, users will assign 10 points to their favorite project and a single point to their second choice:
In addition, you can configure the following two options to define the user experience after they confirm their votes:
- After voting message: Share any relevant information with users who have just voted, and thank them for their participation.
- After voting action: You can redirect users who have just voted to the contest’s public gallery or to the promotion’s final page to thank them for their participation, and redirect them to an external page or your own website.
