Tutorial: Managing points and final messages Follow
The Easypromos Quiz System allows the administrator to define how points will be awarded to participants: whether by assigning a fixed number of points for each correct answer (in the case of a trivia quiz), or by assigning a score for each type of answer selected (in multiple-choice type questionnaires).
Once the points have been awarded the administrator can customize different final messages based on the answers given by participants.
This means that depending on the method of managing and assigning points, the following types of questionnaires can be set up:
- Quizzes: Users must try and correctly answer a series of trivia questions.
- Tests: After answering a series of multiple-choice questions, users receive a personalized message based on the answers they have given.
- Surveys: These enable you to identify the profile of the users and followers of your brand, obtaining feedback from them and getting to know their consumption habits.
- Pools and draws: Users have to predict the answers to a series of questions about a future event (football match, sporting event, award ceremony, etc.).
Below, we explain all the possibilities for managing points in Easypromos Questionnaires:
- How to indicate the correct answer to each question
- How to assign points in multi-answer questions
- How to personalize final messages based on the answers given by users
- How to manage points in questions with sortable answers
- How to personalize final messages based on the majority of answers
- How to manage the allocation of points in a betting pool
- How to show each user the score obtained on the final page of the promotion
1. I want to create a right/wrong question contest. How can I indicate the correct answer to each question?
In the case of a questionnaire in which users must select the correct answer to each question, you can indicate what the correct option is by awarding points for it. To do this you should enter points for the correct answer, while leaving zero points for the incorrect answers.
To specify the correct answer to a question you can follow these steps:
1. Access the 'Answers' section from the sidebar. Enter a score in the 'Number of points’ field next to the correct answer, leave the field in zero for the rest of the questions:
Note: You can assign any numeric value to the score. This means you can give a higher score to the correct answers that interest you most, or even assign a negative score to incorrect answers.

- For sortable type questions, click here.
2. How to assign points to questions with various correct answers
A quiz type questionnaire can also be multi-answer, meaning that a single question can have various correct answers. In this case you should indicate what the correct answers are, specifying a score for each of them. To do this you should enter points in the ‘Number of points’ field for all correct answers, leaving the field in zero for incorrect answers.
To set up the scoring with multiple answers, follow these steps:
1. To create a question with multiple correct answers, make sure that at the time of creating the question you have selected the option "Multi-answer":
2. In the "Options" tab of the question you will find the option 'Select the scoring system', which will allow you to choose between:
- Give the points for each correct answer selected: for each answer that is correct the user will be awarded the number of points indicated for that particular answer.
- Give points if all the correct answers are selected: The question will only be considered to have been answered correctly if all the answers are correct. In this case, the administrator can define the number of points that want to assign to the user in case of selecting all correct answers.
3. In 'Answers', enter the value "1" in the correct answers and leave incorrect answers with value "0":
Example:
In the question, ‘Which two places were part of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World? ’ there are two correct options (Temple of Artemis and Great Pyramid of Giza). Mark the two correct answers by assigning one point to each of them and leaving the incorrect options blank:
CASE 1: Award points for each correct answer selected
- The user selects the two correct options (Temple of Artemis and Great Pyramid of Giza). In this case, their end score will be two points.
- The user only gets one of the two options right (Temple of Artemis and Wall of China for example). In this case, their final score will be just one point because they correctly chose ‘hydrogen’.
CASE 2: Award points only if the user chooses all the right answers
- The user selects the two correct options (Temple of Artemis and Great Pyramid of Giza). In this case, the user adds the number of points defined by the administrator.
- The user correctly selects one of the options but gets the other wrong (Temple of Artemis and Wall of China for example). In this case, the user will not be awarded any points.
3. Can I show a variety of personalized messages to users depending on the answers they provide to the questionnaire?
Yes, the Questionnaires System permits administrators to configure various final messages based on the scores achieved by users of the questionnaire. This option could be useful, for example, for showing one message to users who got all the questionnaire answers right and a different message to users who didn’t get such a good score.
1. Once the score for each question has been defined, go to the Pages> Quiz> Final messages:
2. Then click on the button entitled 'Create new final message now':
3. From the sidebar select 'By summing all the points' in the 'Scoring system’ field:
4. Then, you can create your first final message by setting the following options (within each final message in the “Contents” section):
- Final message: Write directly the text of the message you want to show the user. Tip! Include the {{score}} parameter in the message to tell the user how many answers guessed correctly or show the score of the user. In this way, the system will count the user's score and replace this parameter with its final score.
- Upload media (optional): Accompany the text of the final message with a photo or video.
- Min / Max points or correct answers: Specify the point ranges for which you want to display this message.
And this is how it will be displayed:
5. You can add as many personalized messages as you wish. For each new message that you want to add, you should access the ‘Final messages’ tab again and click on ‘New final message’:
Note: If you wish to personalize messages according to the majority of responses, click here.
4. I want to create a questionnaire in which users must put the answers in order. How can I manage points?
The questionnaires enable you to include questions with sortable answers. In these types of questionnaires users must put the different options into the correct order. In this case you can also assign a determined number of points depending on the how the answers have been sorted by participants.
To set up scoring with multiple and sortable answers follow these steps:
1. To create a sortable question, make sure that at the time of creating the question you have selected the option "Sortable":
2. Among the configuration options of each question, in the Options section, you will find the section 'Select the scoring system', which will allow you to choose between:
- Give the points for each correct answer selected: For each correct answer the user will be awarded the number of points indicated for that specific answer.
- Give one single point if all the correct answers are selected: A quiz will only be considered to have been answered correctly if all the correct answers have been selected. In this case, the user will obtain a maximum of one point.
3. In 'Answers', indicate the correct order for each option in the 'Correct position' field, together with the number of points to be awarded for each answer:
Example:
The question could be something like the following: 'Order these well-known sculptures from the oldest to the newest’.
CASE 1: Award points for each correct answer chosen
- The user correctly guesses the order of all three options. In this case, their final score will be three points.
- The user correctly guesses the order of all three options. In this case, their final score will be three points.
CASE 2: Award a point only if they select all the correct answers
- The user correctly guesses the order of all three options. In this case, their final score will be one point.
- The user only guesses the correct position of one of the three options. In this case, their final score will be zero points.
5. I would like to create a multiple-choice question and answer contest, configuring the final messages based on the majority of answers given. How can I do this?
The Questionnaires System permits the administrator to set up personalized final messages based on the user’s preferences as revealed by the majority of answers they have chosen. This functions via the ‘majority of answers’ system. This option can be useful, for example, when carrying out the following sorts of tests: if the majority of answers are ‘type one’ then the user fits profile X; if the majority of the answers are ‘type two’, then the users profile fits Y.
To set up personalized final messages based on a majority of answers, follow these steps:
The system of majority of answers can work according to two different modalities, depending on the multiple-choice test approach:
- Simple Majority of answers system.
It allows to assign a unique value to each answer, so that each value has its own direct correspondence with one of the final messages configured. It is the most common format for personality type tests, in which from a series of questions, each user is shown the final message corresponding to the majority of answers (by counting the majority of values).
Note: The simple system of majority of answers involves having for each question as many possible answers as final messages you want to create, in order to link each response to one of the final messages created.
Example: For Valentine's Day the brand organizes a fun personality test to discover the degree of romanticism of their customers. The user can choose between 4 possible answers depending on his personality.
We propose 4 different final messages to define the different degrees of romanticism, and each one is related to the corresponding answer:
2. Advanced Majority of Answers System
It allows to assign more than one value to each answer, in order to link the same answer to several final messages. This modality is designed for questionnaires that due to their own approach it is difficult to have an exact correspondence between the number of answers and the number of final messages created.
This modality is recommended for multiple-choice tests designed to show the user a specific brand product based on their answers, because according to the characteristics of the same product, it may have a correspondence with more than one answer.
Example: Imagine a mattress shop, which wants to launch an online campaign to encourage sales of its products but recommending each customer their perfect mattress. It has a variety of 15 different mattresses, each with its properties and specific characteristics. With the simple Majority of Answers system, each question should have 15 possible answers, in order to link each answer with a final message/specific mattress. But because of the difficulty of having 15 possible answers per question, the advanced Majority of Answers system will fit them better because it will allow them to create fewer answers per question, and link them to different final messages/mattresses.
Once you have decided the Majority of Answers system that fits you according to the questionnaire approach, here's how to configure the final messages by following these steps:
1. In 'Answers' you should specify each answer into a different type by entering '1', '2', '3', etc. in each of the answer options:
If you have chosen the Advanced majority of Answers mode, in the "Number of points" field you can indicate the different values by typing them one after the other:
2. Then go to the “Final Messages” tab of the top menu in the Quiz section:
3. Click on the button entitled 'Create new final message now':
4. Then, select 'By majority of answers' in the 'Scoring system' field:
5. Then, you’ll be able to create your first final message by setting the following options in the “Contents” tab:
- Text message: Type directly the text of the message you want to show the user.
- Upload media (optional): Accompany the text of the final message with a photo or video.
- Value: Specify in this field the value of majority of answers for which you want to display this message. The following final message has been configured for answers of type "1":
And this is how it will be presented:
6. You can add as many final messages as you like. For each new message that you wish to add, you should access the ‘Final messages’ section again and click on 'New final message':
7. Once you have created all final messages, use the "Test your Quiz" tool (Editor > Pages > Quiz) to verify that the final messages are assigned correctly as designed:
Note: If you wish to personalize messages based on score, click here.
6. I’ve created a betting pool in which users must predict the results. How can I manage the points of users who predict correctly?
In a betting pool for a future event, the assignation of points is carried out once the result of the event is known, whether it be a sporting contest, an award ceremony, or something else. To do this, once the result is known, you should access the Questionnaire Editor again to indicate the correct answers to each question. From this point on you can update the participants’ score in order to find out which users predicted the results correctly.
To manage scoring in a betting pool, follow these steps:
1. Access the Questionnaire Editor and, for each question, indicate via the score field which is/are the correct answer/answers. We explain how to mark the correct answer here.
2. Once we have marked the correct answers to all the questions, it’s time to update the points won by participants in order to find out how many have predicted the result correctly. To do this, you should access the 'View entries' section of the promotion and click on the 'Recalculate' button that you will find at the top of the screen:
This action will allow you to know how many points the participants have won, based on the correctly predicted results of the betting pool.
Note: In the case of a Predictions app with the Login system enabled, the "Recalculate" option is located within the Promotion Editor, specifically, in the Editor > Pages > Participation section, as shown in the following screenshot:
7. How to show each user the score obtained on the Thank you page of the promotion
In Trivias and other similar questionnaires you can display the final score obtained by each user on the thank you page. This way, after completing the quiz and filling out the entry form, the user will be taken to the Thank you page where he will see the following message:
In order for the application to display the score obtained together with the image and the custom message, you must configure it by following these steps:
- Create a final message in the final Messages section of the Quiz.
- Write the introductory sentence where the score will be communicated, and in the place where the score should be shown, add the code: {{score}}
4. On the “Options” tab, under 'Min. points or correct answers ', write the minimum points that a user can get in the Quiz (it will be '0' in case the user does not answer any correct answer), and in' Max. points or correct answers', write the maximum number of points a user can get (this corresponds to the maximum number of answers he can guess).
Note: In the Questionnaire Test the points will not be displayed, but the text {{score}}. Even so, the corresponding final message will be displayed according to points.
