2024-06-26 - New feature: Restrict participation to users who belong to a specific Mailchimp list Follow
A new features has been implemented under the "Email Restriction" option, which allows the administrator to limit the emails that can participate in the promotion, either by email domain, by a list of emails, or by users belonging to a specific Mailchimp list.
In the latter case, the administrator can restrict participation so that only emails included in a specific Mailchimp list can participate in the promotion, allowing the promotion organizer to arrange exclusive promotions among their subscribers.
How to configure?
To restrict the promotion to subscribers of a specific Mailchimp list, follow these steps:
1. Enter the Editor of your promotion > Pages > Login and Registration, and under the Email Login method, you will find the "Email Restrictions" option, where you can select the restriction "By Mailchimp subscriber":
2. The next step will be to enter your Mailchimp API Key to connect the account:
3. Next, select the subscriber list that users must belong to to be able to participate.
4. Once the subscriber list is connected, two configuration options will appear:
- a) Error message: This is the message that will be displayed to the user if they enter an email that does not belong to the connected Mailchimp subscriber list. Recommendation: Use this message to include a link to the page where users can subscribe to the list or newsletter.
- b) Email validation: Additionally, you have the option to require users to validate their email for added security. This way, after entering their email address, users will receive an email that they must validate to proceed with the registration and participation in the promotion.
Where to Find the Mailchimp API Key?
Here’s how you can obtain the Mailchimp API Key. To do so, follow the steps below.
1. Log in to your Mailchimp account.
2. Click on the account settings menu and go to Account & Billing > API Keys.
What is the user experience like?
The system will verify in real-time if the email entered by the user to participate is in the client's Mailchimp subscriber list. Therefore, if the user enters an email that is in the subscriber list, the system will allow them to continue with the identification and registration process to participate in the promotion.
On the other hand, if the user is not a subscriber, they will see the configured "error message" on the screen, encouraging them to become a subscriber:
