Default values for user sources Follow
When a new visitor user accesses the promotion, the platform automatically detects their origin (source) and stores this information as a cookie on the user's device. If the user registers and becomes a participant user, the source cookie is read and added to the registered user information.
The source information recorded for users is divided into three levels:
- Source Level 1: Indicates the social network the user comes from, or whether it is direct or referral traffic. It also maps the utm_source parameter defined by the organizer.
- Source Level 2: A second-level classifier for Source Level 1. For example, if it is social traffic, it specifies whether it is recruitment traffic, direct traffic, or from a share button. If it is referral traffic, it indicates the source's subdomain. It also maps the utm_medium parameter defined by the organizer.
- Source Level 3: A third-level classifier for the source. It may be empty or provide additional information about Level 2. It maps the utm_campaign parameter defined by the organizer.
If the administrator does not use specific UTM parameters to track sources, Easypromos tries to detect them automatically and uses the nomenclature in the following table to display the information to the administrator:
The table below lists the Level 1 sources and their corresponding Level 2 sources.
Note: Level 3 sources correspond to the value of utm_campaign, or the system automatically adds the domain name of the referring URL if available.
