Tutorial: How to create a Multi-path Quiz Follow
The Multi-path Quiz is an application that allows you to create interactive questionnaires in which the next questions depend on the user's previous answers. Each choice guides the user down a specific path according to the options previously defined by the organizer, generating an experience tailored to each participant.
This tutorial will guide you step by step to configure a Multi-path Quiz, define the different question branches, and assign the final results, so that you can recommend products or personalized solutions to users or create “choose your own adventure” style experiences to increase engagement with your audience.
The contents of this tutorial is organized as follows:

Customize the Multi-path Quiz
Customize the design and finish the setup
How to assign prizes based on the results
Other ways to assign winners
1. Presentation of the application
Unlike a traditional quiz, where all participants see the same questions, the Multi-path Quiz uses branching logic (or routing logic). This means that each answer acts as a decision point that directs the user to a different question or even to a different final result.
How does it work?
The Multi-path Quiz is made up of questions and answers, and its main feature is that you can link the following questions depending on the answers. This flow always leads to a result screen.
The Multi-path Quiz has the following features:
-
It allows you to choose between three types of combinable screens:
- Closed answer.
- Open-ended questions with text (with automatic validation option).
- Transition screens to introduce messages or guide the user before the next question.
- It allows you to personalize questions with text and images: You can present each question accompanied by images or illustrations to provide context. You can define as many answers as you need and, after each choice, display personalized feedback messages to reinforce user interaction.
- Visual editor with branching logic: The editor displays all questions and answers in a visual interface where you can build the quiz routes by dragging and dropping, allowing you to connect each answer to the next step and design personalized paths quickly and intuitively.
- Create customized final results: You can configure different outcomes depending on the participant’s answers. Each path can lead to a different result or share the same final message. Additionally, you can decide whether the participant completes the challenge or not, and assign prizes or personalized messages to each result.
- Define the number of opportunities to complete the quiz: You can determine how many times each user can participate. If you want them to explore different paths or results, allow multiple participations to spark curiosity and keep engagement high.
- Automate actions based on the result: The final result can trigger automatic actions: display personalized prizes, send emails adapted to the profile of the user, or record behavior in the statistics panel based on the path taken.
2. What the user participation flow looks like
What will the user experience be like? The promotion is made up of different pages that the user will encounter while interacting with the promotion in order to participate, such as: the initial welcome page, the entry form page where the user registers with their information, the page where the user answers the quiz questions, etc. Together, these different pages form the structure of the promotion and the participation flow that the user will follow to complete the promotional mechanic of the campaign.
In addition, as the administrator you can choose which participation flow you want users to follow. Specifically, there are three different participation flows: the Identified Mode, where the user must identify themselves and register before they answer the questions of the Quiz; the Visitor Mode, where the user answer first and then identifies and registers; and the Anonymous Mode, where the user participates without identifying or registering. The choice of mode will determine what the participation and user experience will be like in the promotion.

To start configuring the Multi-path Quiz, enter the Editor of the promotion > Pages > Participation and click on the stage:
Next, click on the “Multi-path Quiz” tab, which is the space where you will create your questions and answers and where you will build the different quiz paths:
When you enter, you will find the following configuration tabs:
- Questions. From this tab ,you can create the quiz’s questions and answers.
- Result screens. From this tab, you can create the different result screens the users will land on when fisnishing the quiz.
- Paths view: Allows you to connect the different questions with each other to create the quiz route until you reach each result screen. You can design as many paths as needed.
-
Design. Here you can customize the look & feel of the quiz (text colors, buttons, etc.).
Below we explain all the steps to configure your Quiz.
Step 1. Configure the questions and answers
The first step is to create the Quiz questions. Below, we explain the different types of questions you can configure:
a) Closed answer. The participant can only select one answer:
b) Text input. The participants can answer the question typing in their own text.
c) Continue screen. Allows you to introduce messages or guide the user in between questions:
Next, decide what type of question you want depending on the quiz you want to design. Once you know the type of question you want, click the “Add question” button and select the type of question you want to create, or edit the single-choice pre-configured ones:
You will see the question’s editing options, which you can complete with your own content:
1. Question content
For each question you will find the following options:
- Question text: Write here the question you want to ask the users.
- Reference: The internal reference for the question, to help you locate it when generating reports at the end of the promotion.
- Image: Allows you to add a photo or video to the question.
2. Answers
For each question you can add as many answers as you want. For each answer you will find the following options:
- Answer: Write the answer text here.
- Reference: This is an internal reference for the answer.
- Feedback message: This option allows you to display a text message to the user after they answer the question. Below we show an example of a feedback message, used in this case to reinforce user interaction with the Quiz:
Step 2. Create the result screens
Once all the questions and answers are created, the next step is to create the different result screens that you want to show the users after the last question of the quiz.
In this step, you will simply create the different results, which you can personalize with text and an image. In the next step, we will explain how to build the different quiz paths to show each user one result or another depending on their answers.
To do this, go to the “Result screens” tab:
Next, click the “Add result” button:
For each result you can configure the following options:
- Message: Customize the message users will see when finalizing the quiz.
- Internal reference: Not visible to the users, but can help you order the information at the end of the promotion.
- Image.
- “Mark participation as completed” option: When this option is activated, the user’s participation will automatically be marked as completed when they reach this result screen. This option is useful in quizzes where completing the path counts as a finished participation (for example, to qualify for a prize or draw).
- Link and final button text: Allows you to add an additional button to redirect to an external URL, for instance to a specific product of the brand's portfolio.
Step 3. Create the quiz paths to each result screen
Once all the result screens are created, it’s time to create the different paths to direct the user to one result screen or another depending on their answers to the different questions.
This way, you can design the entire flow of your quiz visually from the Promotion Editor, building the different paths with simple drag & drop to connect each answer to the next step and create the various quiz journeys.
To begin, click the “Switch to paths view” button:
When you click, you will see a visual representation of all the questions, answers, and result screens you have created. Now it’s about connecting each answer to the next question, and so on, until all the paths end at one of the result screens.
In the following video, we explain in detail how you can connect the questions to create the different paths:
Step 4. Customize the Quiz design
Next, click on the “Design” tab to customize the quiz’s design and look & feel.
You will find the following customization sections:
A. Questions
Here you will find the following options:
- Align text to start: mark this option if you want to align the question and answers text.
- Allow returning to previous questions: decide if you want to allow users to navigate freely between the different questions of the quiz.
B. Answers
You will find the following options to customize the quiz answer buttons:
- Font style.
- Force uppercase.

Check the tutorial to finish the setup and customization of your promotion.
6. How to assign prizes based on the result
With the Multi-path Quiz application and the possibility of showing users different results screens, the administrator also has the ability to assign different prizes depending on the result shown to each user.
Example: You can give each participant a discount coupon for the same product that was recommended on their results screen.
To do this, once the prize has been created you must follow the steps below:
1. From the Prize inventory, create the different coupons. Once done, access each of the prizes and click on the "Delivery conditions" tab:
2. Next, click on "Add condition" and a pop-up will open. There you must add the "Multi-path Quiz Result" condition, which will allow you to select the quiz result corresponding to each prize:
By applying conditions based on the Multi-path Quiz result, the user will receive one discount or another depending on the result shown after completing the quiz.
7. Other ways to assign winners
Easypromos provides a complete Prize and Winner Management system that allows you to create the prize or prizes you want to give to users who participate in the Multi-path Quiz, as well as configure how you want to assign the prizes and select the winners.
Specifically, for the Multi-path Quiz you have different ways to assign the prize to the winners, depending on your preference:
