1. Presentation of the game
The Tower game is an online skill game that consists of stacking elements, one on top of the other. As they stack up, points will be added and the different levels configured will be completed in the shortest time possible. The user must stack the rows, trying to make them fit in the best possible way, fitting each of the elements together. Users can stack elements by tapping with their finger on the mobile screen, clicking with the mouse or with the space on their keyboard. Apart from time, the difficulty of the game also depends on the speed of the elements moving on the screen.
In this tutorial we explain all the steps that will allow you to create the Tower game. The game offers the following features:
- You can customize the blocks of each of the levels, with images of your logo, your products or any other image.
- You can adapt the difficulty of the game by configuring the size of the base and the speed with which the game elements move.
- You can activate different levels to add excitement to the game and give different prizes for each level.
- You will be able to configure a final screen for each level, this way the final message will be different depending on the level reached by the player.
- You can limit the time the user has to play (from 30 to 90 seconds).
- Multiple options to reward participants: you can assign the prize(s) to the participants with the highest score, raffle the prize among the participants with the most points, draw the prize among all participants, give different prizes depending on the level that the users have reached, etc.
2. What is the user participation flow like?
What will the user engagement experience be like? The promotion is made up of different pages that the user will navigate through when interacting with the promotion to participate, such as: the initial welcome page, the login and entry form pages, where the user will register with their data, the game page itself, etc. As a whole, the different pages will make up the structure of the promotion and the flow of participation that the user will follow to complete the promotional mechanics of the promotion.
Additionally, as the promotion administrator you will be able to select which participation flow you want users to follow. Specifically, there are three different possible participation flows:
- Identified Mode, where the user must identify themselves and register before being able to play.
- Visitor Mode, where the user plays first and then identifies and registers.
- Anonymous Mode, where the user participates without identifying or registering.
The choice of one modality or another will determine how the user's participation and experience in the promotion will be.
Learn in this article how each participation flow works, and discover more about the different pages that make up a promotion.

From there, you can start customizing the game from the "The Tower" tab, where you will find the different customization options.
Step 1. Gameplay options
In the first section you will find the options to customize and configure the game's settings. Specifically, you can customize the following points:
-
Level: allows you to select up the level of difficulty of the game, depending on your audience. Depending on the difficulty selected, the speed of the game will vary:
- Easy
- Normal/Medium
- Hard
- Number of rows: indicate there the number of rows that will need to stack to complete the game. You can choose from 15 rows minimum to a maximum of 35.
- Base size: allows you to choose the width of the base of the initial block of the game, which can be 5 elements wide to a maximum of 11 elements. The wider the base, the easier the game, as the tower will have more stability.
- Game Time: set the maximum of time users will have to complete the game (between 30 and 90 seconds).
Step 2. Design of the game
Next, click the "Design" tab to customize the game's layout. Here you will find the following customization options:
1. Add different levels to the game
By default, the game will include a first row that corresponds to "Level 0". The image of this first row will appear directly on the board as soon as the game is loaded:
From here, the administrator can decide how many levels the game will have to add excitement, up to a maximum of 5 levels. The rows of each level will have their own color or image, for the user to create an original tower, with different layers or materials.
Once you hace decided the number of levels you want for the game, you can configure the options for each level through the following options:
- Title: allows you to customize the name of the level.
- Initial row: allows you to configure in which row each level begins. It is expressed in a percentage that ranges from 5 (lowest row) to 95 (maximum row, the top of the tower). Therefore, the number expressed here will determine the number of rows that each level will have.
- Image: allows you to upload a 150x150px image for the blocks of the level.
- Color: allows you to choose the color of the block.
2. Customize the game board
Below you will find different options to customize and configure the game board. Specifically, you can customize the following aspects of the game:
- Display levels: allows you to differentiate the different levels on the game. The title of each level will also be displayed.
- Display the grid: select if you want to show a wallpaper grid.
- Curvature of the blocks: round the corners of the base blocks.
- Disable sounds: It allows to completely disable the sound effects that come by default.
- Sound effects: allows you to choose the sound when rows are being piled on top of each other.
- Background music: Allows you to upload an audio file in .MP3 format (maximum size of 2MB) that will loop as background music during the game.
3. Customize the background image
Next, you will be able to customize the game's background image. You can configure the following options:
- Background image (800x800px). This image will be displayed behind the blocks.
- Background color. Allows you to set a background color. It will only be visible if a background image has not been uploaded.
- Color of the level line. If the "Show levels" option is enabled, this will allow you to set the line color.
- Show outer border.
4. Customize the Stop button
To pile up the rows, users can click on the game board directly, or use the "Stop" button:
Clicking the "Stop" button stops the blocks from moving horizontally, to arrange the rows. You can customize this button through the following options:
- Show button. Depending on how you want users to play you can select between three different options:
-
- Always show the stop button.
- Only on mobile devices.
- Never.
-
- Background image (300x300px). It will be the front image of the button.
- Button label.
- Background color.
- Border width.

- Image: This image will serve as the header image.
-
Description: This field can be used to provide instructions for participating in the game.
"Start" Button: You can customize the text on the button.
Additionally, you can disable the Instructions screen.
Step 4. Score screen
In the "Score Screen" section, you can customize the colors and texts that will be displayed on the screen the user will access after completing the game, which provides a summary of their performance along with their score. This screen is divided into:
- Game OK: This is the screen that the user will access if they complete the game within the set time.
- Game KO: Out of Time: This screen is shown when the user runs out of time and cannot complete the game.
- Game KO: unsuccessful: It is the screen that is displayed when the user has not been able to complete the tower.
For each of these screens, you can customize the following elements:
- Header image.
- Message: Text displayed at the top of the screen, which by default says "Good job!" for the "OK Screen" and "Time's up!" for the "KO by Time Screen."
- Background color: The administrator can configure the background color of this screen to match the brand's corporate colors.
Additionally, you can configure the following options:
- Hide score: Allows you to hide the summary of the score achieved by the user after playing.
- Apply promotion's general colors: This option allows you to apply the same colors from the promotion to the game's score screen.
5. Customize the design and finish the setting
Once you have configured the Tower game, the next step is to finish the configuration of the other options and pages of the promotion: customize the design template with your own colors and texts, add the legal texts, the viral content, etc.
Check out the tutorial to finish the configuration and customization of your promotion.
6. Scores obtained in the game
The scores in the Tower game are calculated as follows:
- For each row completed, the user receives 100 points.
- If a user does not manage to complete all the rows, the score will be the one they had when their tower felt, depending on the level they reached while building the tower.
- If all the rows of the tower are completed, 10 additional points are assigned for each square that constitute the tower at the end of the game, in addition to an extra bonus depending on the participant's remaining time, specifically, 10 points are assigned for each remaining second. In this way, the steadier the tower and faster the game played, the higher the score.
7. Assign prizes depending on the level achieved by users
By configurating different levels in the Tower game, the organizer can discriminate the users' experience and assign different prizes according to the level achieved by each user.
To do this, delivery conditions based on the score obtained when playing must be included in each prize. To calculate the scores for each level, you must take into account that each row that the user has stacked adds 100 points.
In this way, each level will have its minimum and maximum score, according to the rows configured in percentage terms from the Design > Levels section of the game:
There, click on "Add condition" and a pop-up will open. Add then the conditions based on the score user obtained:<>
- Score > Equal or greater than > X points (The row number where the level begins x 100)
- Score > Below > X points (The row number where the next level begins x 100)
In the following example, level 1 is set from row 8, and the next level starts from row 12, so the prize distributed in level 1 will be given to users who have scored more than 800 points but less than 1200 (which corresponds to the next level):
By applying the conditions by score in each prize, the user will obtain one or another prize according to the levels surpassed.
8. Other ways to assign prizes
Easypromos provides a complete Prize and Winner Management system that will allow you to create the prize or prizes that you want to give away to the users who participate in the game, as well as configure how you want to assign the prizes and select the winners.
