Tutorial: How to create a Score Predictor to predict the outcome of sports matches Follow
Do you want to organize a score predictor game so users can predict the outcome of a sports competition or event? With Easypromos, you have access to two different applications that allow you to challenge your audience to predict, guess, and forecast the results of an upcoming sports event.
Specifically, we offer the following two applications to create a sports score predictor dynamic:
- Score Predictor: Allows you to set up a single round with one or multiple matches. Users earn points for each correct prediction.
- Multi-Round Score Predictor: Allows you to schedule multiple rounds within the same sports competition. Users earn points for each correct prediction, which are accumulated in a global leaderboard across all rounds or stages. This is the ideal application for sports competitions that take place over multiple phases (such as the Euro Cup, March Madness, FIFA World Cup, etc.).
In the following tutorial, we’ll guide you step by step on how to set up your score predictor game, whether you want to organize a single round or a multi-stage competition.
The present tutorial is organized as follows:

1. Overview
The score predictor application is the ideal mechanic to generate interaction and engagement among your brand's followers, especially during major sports competitions like leagues, international tournaments, or local championships. With this mechanic, you can turn each round into an opportunity for users to actively participate, earn points, and compete with each other.
To adapt the format to different types of competitions, Easypromos offers you two types of applications:
1. Score Predictor
This application is designed for competitions with head-to-head matchups between two teams, such as football, basketball, rugby, or handball, allowing you to create up to 30 matches per round.
It allows you to set up a single round with one or more matches. Participants will earn points for each correct prediction.
This application is especially recommended for organizing a predictor for one-off events, such as a final, a derby, or to guess the results of multiple matches in the same round.
- Example 1: Predictor for a Champions League match. A sports drink brand wants to take advantage of the Champions League final to connect with its football-loving audience by creating a predictor where users guess the match result.
- Example 2: Predictor game for the NBA basketball conference semifinals. A digital sports magazine wants to engage its audience by creating a predictor with the 4 matches of the semifinals of the NBA tournament, where users can predict the exact result of each game.
Note: This application is included in the Premium and White Label plans.
2. Multi-round score predictor
This is the best option for tournaments that unfold over multiple stages, such as a regular league, a World Cup, or a championship.
It allows you to create multiple rounds within the same competition. In each round, users submit their predictions and earn points, which are added to a global leaderboard.
This is the ideal application to keep your audience engaged round after round in major sporting events such as leagues, world cups, or international tournaments.
- Example 1: Multi-round predictor for the Euro Cup. A sportswear brand launches a multi-round predictor to follow the entire Euro Cup, from the group stage to the grand final. In each round, users must predict the outcomes of the scheduled matches. Participants earn points each round, and a global ranking is generated. At the end of the competition, the top 10 players will win a prize.
- Example 2: Multi-round predictor organized by a football club. To connect with its fanbase, a football club runs a multi-round predictor during the league season, where users can submit predictions before each of the club’s matches. Points are awarded for each correct result, and a global leaderboard is created. To encourage participation, the club offers exclusive prizes to winners, such as free match tickets, discounts on official jerseys, and more.
Note: This application is available exclusively in the White Label version of the platform or for Corporate accounts.
Both applications allow you to:
- Quickly add matches using Easypromos' internal database, with team names and logos.
- Create custom teams by uploading the team logo and entering information manually.
- Choose the prediction type for the score predictor:
- Exact result: Users must predict the exact final score of the match.
- Score difference: Users must predict the margin of goals or points between the teams.
- Quickly mark the correct outcome for each match and update participants' scores.
- Customize the design of the prediction interface: upload a background image or change its color, adjust text and button colors to match your brand or event theme.
- Allow users to see a summary of their predictions, which they can edit before confirming participation.
- Enable real-time statistics where users can see the most voted results and the percentage of selections for each result type (e.g., home win, draw, visitor's team win).
This dynamic is ideal for activating audiences during sporting events, increasing recurring participation, and building engagement throughout tournaments or seasons.
2. Create the promotion
Below we explain all the steps to create your promotion, depending on the type of Score Predictor game you want to set up — whether it's a single-round or multi-round predictor.
1. Go to your Easypromos dashboard and log in with your email and password to manage and create your promotions.
2. Next, click on the "Create new promotion" button to start building your promotion.
3. If you want to create a single-round score predictor, select "score predictor" under the "Quizzes" section:
4. If, on the other hand, you want to create a multi-stage score predictor, select "multi-round score predictor" under the "Multi-stage" section:
3. Setting up the score predictor
Below, we explain all the steps to configure the Score predictor with the different teams and matches whose results users will need to predict.
Note: The steps we explain below apply both when creating a Score predictor with a single matchday and a multi-round score predictor.
First, enter the Editor of the promotion > Participation section, and click the "Score predictor" game to edit it:
Next, access the "Score predictor" tab:
You can now start customizing the Score Predictor game through the following configuration options:
Step 1. Set up the teams and matches
The first step to configure your Score Predictor is to specify the number of matches it will include and create all the teams participating in the competition.
1. Select the number of matches
Through the "Number of matches" option, you can select the total number of matches the Score predictor game will include, with a maximum limit of 30 matches.
2. Add the teams
Click the "Add teams" to create and manage new teams in the game:
A pop-up will open where you can add the teams. There are two different ways to create the teams:
A. Selecting them from the database
Easypromos provides a database listing competitions, tournaments, and sports championships (soccer, baseball, basketball, etc.), which includes the names of all the teams that are part of each competition. This way, you can quickly add teams to your Score predictor just by searching for them in the database.
You can perform the following actions:
- Search by competition. You can enter the name of the competition you're interested in, and if it's in the database, you'll see all available teams.
- Search by team. You can enter the name of the team to search for it in the database.
- Sport category. You can search by different available sport categories such as: soccer, basketball, handball, etc.
B. Manually creating a new team
You can create a new custom team. When selecting this option, you’ll find the following customization settings:
- Team name. You can create the team name with up to 30 characters.
- Team short name. Add the initials or abbreviation of the team.
- Image. You can add a 400x400px image of the team logo.
- Color. Assign a custom color that represents the team.
- Sport. Select the sport the team belongs to.
- Category. Link the team to an existing category or create a new one.
You can select or create all the teams you need from this section of the editor. Once the teams are created or added, you can manage them from the "Teams Management" tab under the "Participation" section. You can also add or create new teams from this tab.
In the following video, we show the process to create and/or add the teams:
Once the teams are added, you will need to create the matches. To do this, you must drag the teams into their position: the left column corresponds to the home team, the right column to the visitor team (away match).
You can also enable the option to hide already used teams, so that only the available teams appear. With this option, once a team is included in the game, it cannot be included in another match.
In addition, you can double the points assigned to users if they guess the results of one or more specific matches correctly.
For example, give x2 points to players who predict the results of the matches that will be played by the team of the club organizing the game in the tournament.
Finally, you can delete all selected teams or remove them one by one in case the created matches are incorrect.
Step 2. Customize the Score Predictor design
Under the "Design" tab, you will find all the options to customize the game. Specifically, you'll find the following options:
- a) Introduction message. Text that will appear at the top to provide information to users.
- b) Display outer border. Enable or disable the outer border on the predictor screen.
- c) Sponsor image. You can upload an 800x300px image that will appear at the top of the predictor screen.
- d) Background image. You can upload an 800x800px image as the background for the predictor screen.
- e) Background color. Background color of the predictor screen.
- f) Text color. Text color for team names and numbers.
- g) Action color. Color used for screen actions.
- h) x2 Icon color. Customize the color that highlights double-points matches.
- i) Ascending number scroll. Configuration for the order in which results are selected.
-
j) Type of prediction. You can choose between two types of predictions:
- Exact result: The user must predict the exact match score.
- Score difference: The user must predict the margin of points or goals between teams.
- k) Number of digits. Number of digits for the scores that will be displayed in the predictor.
Step 3. Summary page
If you’ve created multiple matches, the Summary Page will display all user predictions on a single screen so they can review, modify, and confirm them.
Step 4. Final screen
On the final screen, you can configure the final message that users will see upon completing the Score predictor, and also enable statistics with a visually customized design. These allow you to display additional information about general predictions in the promotion and let users know if their predictions are similar to the other players'. You can customize the following elements:
- Introduction message. Final text shown once the user confirms their predictions.
- Statistics. You can enable or disable the option to show statistics on the final screen.
If you enable the statistics option, you can customize the following sections:
- Custom labels. Option to customize the names for each chart option, like "Home win", "Draw", or "Away/Visitor win".
- Chart color. Select colors to represent each type of prediction.
Step 5. Score Update
From the "results" tab, you must enter the official results of the matches once they have ended, and define the score allocation, indicating the number of points users will receive for each accurate prediction they made.
You can award points to users both for predicting the exact score and by enabling the option to award points for correctly predicting the match outcome.
These are the options you can configure on this screen:
- Points for exact result. You can define the number of points users will earn by predicting the exact result of the match.
- Points for predicting the winner or a draw. You can enable the option to give points to users for predicting the outcome.
- Update scores. Update users’ scores once a result has been entered.
Note: you can only update users' scores once the participation period of the stage has ended.
Tip: If you enable both scoring options, we recommend awarding more points for predicting the exact result and fewer points for correctly predicting the outcome.
4. Creating a Multi-round score predictor
If you're interested in creating a pool that includes all the rounds of matches in a championship, tournament, or competition, the solution is to create a "Multi-Round Prediction game", which allows you to create a pool with multiple stages or participation rounds, as explained in section 2 of this tutorial.
You can add as many rounds as you want, customize them with your own images and design, and define when each stage will be open.
All the stages will be displayed on the stages list page so that users can participate in the different rounds:
In this way, users will participate in the different rounds and accumulate points based on the predictions they get right in each stage. The score obtained by each participant will be reflected in a global participant ranking.
The Multi-round predictions application works with Easypromos’ “multi-stage promotion” system, allowing you to add new participation stages for each round you want to include in the campaign.
Note: The "Multi-round predictions" application is available under the White Label plan or for Corporate accounts.
5. Customize the design and finish the configuration
Once you’ve uploaded the teams and created the matches, the game itself is ready. The next step is to complete the configuration of the other promotion pages, such as customizing the design template with your own colors and texts, adding the legal terms and conditions, configuring the viral content, etc.
Check the tutorial to finish configuring and customizing your promotion.
6. Manage and publish the winners
Easypromos provides a complete Prize and Winner Management system that allows you to create the prize or rewards you want to distribute to users who participate in the prediction game, as well as configure how you want to assign the prizes and select the winners.
Specifically, for the score predictor you have different ways to assign the prize to the winners, depending on your choice:
1. Run a giveaway only among users who predicted the results of all matches correctly. Follow the steps in this tutorial that explains how to create a prize to be raffled among participants who received the maximum score by predicting all matches results correctly.
2. Run a giveaway among all users who participated in the score predictor. Follow the steps in this tutorial to create the prize and raffle it among all participants.
3. Give a coupon to all users who participated. Follow the steps in this tutorial which explains how to create a promotional coupon-type prize to assign it directly to all users after participating in the score predictor.
